Lakes and Reservoirs

Work by Matthew Brandt, 2014
American artist Matthew Brandt’s unique photographs from the Lakes and Reservoirs series are taken in the western United States, developed as C-Prints and then submerged in water drawn from the lake or reservoir depicted for several days, weeks or even months. As the water breaks down the emulsion, vivid colors and painterly passages emerge. The series reveals Brandt's innovative approach to color photography by finding common ground between subject and material.
