The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of their Dreams

Photographs and Original Text by Alessandra Sanguinetti, 2010
Alessandra Sanguinetti's series The Adventures of Guille and Belinda and the Enigmatic Meaning of Their Dreams, which she began in 1999, registers the saga of two young cousins named Guille and Belinda. Cultivating an intimate relationship with the pair for over 10 years, Sanguinetti collaborates with the girls to construct images fueled by the dreams and fears that accompany the psychological and physical transition from childhood to adulthood. With the Argentinean countryside as their backdrop, Guille and Belinda use costumes and props to produce visual tableaux that explore and diffuse the boundary between fantasy and reality.
